Callas, 2020

Over several days during the COVID-19 “stay-at-home” order in San Diego County, I photographed Calla Lilies from our garden. The lilies were placed in front of a large light box fitted with a white diffusion screen; this becomes the white background for all the images. The blooms were separately lit from just behind and above the camera with a strobe synced to fire with the light box.  During the quarantine, the solitary lilies do look lonely as compared to the lily pairs and lily families.

I’ve hesitated to call this portfolio section, COVID Callas . . .
